Turn your iPod into an iPod recorder

Wednesday, February 14, 2007

The iPod is great to listen and watch multimedia content but it can also be used as a recorder. An iPod recorder can be obtained by plugging at the bottom of the iPod a gadget with recorder capabilities. Despite having to attach a gadget to the device, the iPod recorder is very handy and does not lose Apple characteristic style.

There are several options to turn our favorite gadget into an iPod recorder. We can use products from Belkin, Griffin Technology or XtremeMac to add recording capabilities to our iPod. Belkin offers the TuneTalk Stereo for iPod, a black device that comes with two omnidirectional microphones. It can be charged while recording (using a USB cable) and, to achieve a better recording quality, has a slot to plug an external microphone. The price for this iPod recorder is $69.99.

To obtain a perfect iPod recorder Griffin Technology offers the iTalk Pro. It is a very small black device with two built-in microphones and the possibility to add an external mic. Its price is set to $49.99. XtremeMac instead choose to offer an external small microphone with its XtremeMac MicroMemo.

This iPod recorder, available both in black and white, has a flexible and detachable microphone that can boost the recordings audio quality. This XtremeMac MicroMemo iPod recorder won 2006 Best Audio Recorder award and among the three devices it seems the best. The user can quickly listen to the recorded content and the recording quality is pretty good. The price for this iPod recorder is set to $59.95.
